Headaches

Headaches

Did you know that 9 out of 10 Americans suffer from headaches? Some are occasional, some are frequent, some are dull, sharp or throbbing, some can cause nausea and some are truly debilitating!

What are some headache “triggers”? There are many. They can include food, allergies and environmental stimulants like light, noises or stress. They can also be caused by behaviors like excessive drinking, insomnia and over exercise. Today’s Americans are also very sedentary. Many daily routines for work involve consecutive hours in front of a computer in one fixed seated position, which can cause tension in the neck.

Some self treatment remedies that people choose are to lay down, dim the lights, turn off noises, pop pills or use aromatherapy. They’re all over the board.

Well, there is a much better alternative. Chiropractic Care.

Research shows that spinal manipulation is an effective treatment option for tension headaches and headaches that originate in the neck. In 2014, a report in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics (JMPT) showed that Chiropractic Care improved acute and chronic neck pain, cervicogenic headaches and migraines.

When you see your Chiropractor for your headache, they may do several things:

  • Perform spinal manipulation or Chiropractic adjustments to improve spinal function and alleviate the stress on your system.
  • Advise you on diet and nutrition
  • Take you through a series of exercises to strengthen supporting muscles that will help with neck tension
  • Advise you on Ergonomics and relaxation techniques

The Chiropractors at Core Rehab are here to help you.
